On
Saturday, June 16, 2001, the Charlotte Chapter of the Penn State Alumni
Association held its eighth annual meeting.
There was strong showing of Penn State Pride at the Spaghetti Warehouse
that night. Seventy-one people were in
attendance as opposed to forty-two the year before. What an incredible turnout!
John Black,
deputy director of the Penn State Alumni Association, was this year’s guest
speaker. Many of you are familiar with
John from The Football Letter that many of you receive during the fall.
He has been the author of the publication for more than 25 years. John provided in-depth facts about how Penn
State ranks among other Universities in categories ranging from academics,
sports, and alumni, just to mention a few.
John also informed guest on events at University Park including the
expansion of Beaver Stadium, the recent and unfortunate race riots, and the
renovation completion of the HUB.

John
wasn’t the only entertainment for the evening as the theme for the evening was
a murder mystery dinner. Stage Works,
a local production group, acted out a murder mystery while guests indulged
themselves in Italian entrees served by Spaghetti Warehouse. Crowd participation as well as the skilled
actors and actress from Stage Works provided for a hilarious night of
entertainment.
After the main
entree was served, ice cream from the Penn State Creamery was dished out to
all. Tim Brady, Chapter Vice President
(and murder victim), made the ice cream possible. Thanks Tim!
If you were not
able to attend this year’s annual meeting, we regret it as much as you do. Our organization plans several activities
through out the year with intentions to draw people together and would
encourage you, your family and friends to attend some or all of the
events. It’s a great way to meet people
with a common interest and have fun while you’re at it.
